Doch wie orientieren sich diese in ihrer Umgebung? Die neue Roboterameise variAnt läuft und verhält sich beinahe wie ihr lebendes Vorbild. Mit dem patentierten Sensorsystem erkun det sie autonom ihr Umfeld und nimmt Hindernisse, Markierun gen, Lichtquellen oder Bewegungen durch geringste Helligkeits unterschiede wahr. Der programmierbare Bausatz von VARIOBOT ist für junge und junggebliebene Forscher und Entdecker ab 14 Jahren geeignet.

Ähnlich wie die meisten Lebewesen passt sich variAnt über eine relative Helligkeitswahrnehmung an die Umgebungsbedingungen an. Möglich macht dies ein patentierter Sensorverbund. Die Lichtsensoren der autonomen Roboterameise sind am Körper, den Beinen, den Fühlern und den Kieferklauen angebracht und können den Anforderungen entsprechend ausgerichtet werden.

Ein „tierischer“ Spaß ist „vorprogrammiert“

Die gut strukturierte Anleitung beschreibt den mechanischen und elektronischen Aufbau der Roboterameise Schritt für Schritt und mit zahlreichen Abbildungen. Löten ist dabei nicht erforderlich. Zudem wird erläutert, wie mithilfe von vorgefertigten Code-Modulen die ersten einfachen Arduino-Programme geschrieben und schrittweise erweitert werden. Davon motiviert, können mit zunehmendem Verständnis auch strategische und interaktive Aufgaben umgesetzt werden, bis hin zu ersten Experimenten mit künstlicher Intelligenz.

Die Hardware 

Das Gehirn des Ameisenroboters besteht aus einem Arduino-kompatiblen Nano-Board mit einem 32-MHz-Prozessor. Die kompakte Steuereinheit bietet Anschlüsse für 2 Motoren, 2 Reedschalter zur Schrittzählung, 8 analoge Sensoreingänge, 2 programmierbare Taster, 8 frei nutzbare Digital-I/Os bzw. 15 steck- und abschaltbare Status LEDs. Die LEDs können den Status der Sensoren, der Motoren und der Reedschalter anzeigen. Ein kleines Steckbrett im Ameisenkopf ermöglicht es, die Umgebungssensoren flexibel zu kombinieren und zu erweitern. Der beigefügte Lithium-Ionen-Akku lässt variAnt für etwa 3 Stunden laufen und ist via USB-Kabel aufladbar.

Über den Erfinder und VARIOBOT 

Tino Werner studierte an der Technischen Universität Graz Telematik mit dem Schwerpunkt künstliche Intelligenz. Von 2004 bis 2012 entwickelte er am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) künstliche Hände für die Prothetik und die Robotik. Seit 2013 entwickelt und vertreibt er seine innovativen fahrbaren Roboterbausätze und bietet damit Workshops an, um Kinder spielerisch für Technik und fürs Selbermachen zu begeistern. Fertigungsanlage der Zukunft im Modellformat

Die Lernfabriken von fischertechnik verdeutlichen Prozesse innerhalb einer smarten Fertigung. Ausgestattet mit Sensoren und verbunden mit einer Cloud, lassen sich die Kernthemen digital vernetzter Produktion physisch visualisieren und begreifbar demonstrieren. Auf der SPS Messe, die vom 8. bis 10. November in Nürnberg stattfindet, präsentiert fischertechnik seine Lernfabriken mit Cloud-Anbindung in Halle 4, Stand-Nummer 155.

Mit den fischertechnik Lernfabriken lassen sich Industrie-4.0-Anwendungen simulieren und begreifen. Das Nachstellen der detailgetreuen Prozesse einer zukunftsweisenden Fabrikanlage ermöglicht ein tiefes Verständnis von Vorgängen innerhalb der digitalen Transformation. Dies macht die fischertechnik Lernfabrik zum Mittel der Wahl, um in technischen Ausbildungsgängen wie beispielsweise in der Mechatronik Prozesse in der Fertigung zu verdeutlichen und SPS-Programmierung zu lernen. 

Alle fischertechnik Trainings- und Simulationsmodelle werden fertig gebaut geliefert. Aufgrund ihrer kompakten Abmessungen und durch die Montage auf einer stabilen Grundplatte lassen sie sich leicht transportieren und können somit an Berufsschulen, Universitäten, in Ausbildungsbetrieben, aber auch auf Messen oder Veranstaltungen zur Demonstration eingesetzt werden.

Die Server für die Cloud befinden sich in Deutschland. Damit wird gewährleistet, dass für die Speicherung der Daten die EU-Datenschutzgrundverordnung eingehalten wird. Persönliche Informationen werden in einem Account mit Passwortzugang geschützt, der den sehr sicheren „OAuth2“ Industrie-Standard verwendet. Auch bei der Datenübertragung an die Cloud wird Wert auf Datensicherheit gelegt: Alle gesendeten Daten werden mit Zertifikaten verschlüsselt übertragen.
